Completing the WPCredits project has been a rewarding experience that allowed me to contribute to the WordPress community in a creative way. Looking back, I realize that this project involved much more than taking photographs—it required patience, careful observation, and a willingness to learn from every submission.

The part I enjoyed the most was going out and taking photographs. Even though I do not have a professional photography background, I challenged myself to capture images that were interesting, well-composed, and meaningful rather than simply photographing random objects. It was satisfying to see some of those photographs become part of the WordPress Photo Directory.

One of the biggest challenges was deciding what to photograph. Finding interesting subjects and unique perspectives was often more difficult than taking the pictures themselves. I also learned that submitting several photographs of the same subject from slightly different angles greatly increased the chances of rejection. This feedback taught me to focus on variety and originality instead of quantity.

If I were to start this project again, I would photograph a wider range of subjects instead of spending so much time capturing different angles of the same scene. I would also document my progress more consistently from the beginning, since having more screenshots and records would have made it easier to reflect on each stage of the project.

Beyond photography, this experience helped me develop greater attention to detail, patience during the review process, and a better understanding of how open-source communities maintain quality through collaboration and constructive feedback. I learned that every review, whether it resulted in an approval or a rejection, was an opportunity to improve.

Although I originally completed this project as part of my coursework, I now have a greater appreciation for the value of contributing to open-source communities. I would like to continue exploring opportunities to contribute to WordPress in the future, whether through the Photo Directory or by participating in other areas of the community as my technical skills continue to grow.

The moment I felt most proud was seeing my collection of approved photographs growing over time. Watching my contributions become part of a public resource used by people around the world made the effort feel worthwhile and reminded me that even small contributions can have a meaningful impact.

If I could give one piece of advice to future students, it would be to take time to understand the submission guidelines before uploading photographs, focus on variety rather than multiple versions of the same subject, and document the entire process from the beginning. Those small habits make the experience smoother and help you appreciate your own progress throughout the project.

Overall, this project was a valuable learning experience that combined creativity, continuous improvement, and community contribution. It showed me that meaningful participation in open-source projects can take many forms and that every contribution, no matter how small, has the potential to benefit others.
